On Tuesday evening April 22nd the members of Plainsboro Fire Company drilled with several other stations who are part of Task Force 801. The drill took place at FMC off of Plainsboro Road. The members went over basic knot tying techniques, patient packaging, and rigging and lowering of a packaged patient. The companies that participated with Plainsboro were, Station 32 Ewing, Cranbury Fire Station 48, Plainsboro Rescue Squad, and Squad 168 Princeton EMS.

During the rush hour on April 18th at approximately 5pm the fire company was dispatched to a 2 car MVA at the intersection of Plainsboro Rd. and Edgemere Ave. Chief 49 arrived on location and reported a 2 car MVA with 1 patient still inside the vehicle. Since this call came in during the rush hour additional rescue’s and another engine from surrounding areas responded. The crews from Engine 49-1 along with Station 66 PPPL crews removed the roof of the vehicle to gain access to the patient. Once the roof was removed the patient was packaged and transported to a nearby hospital. Crews remained on scene for a short while the police completed their accident investigation. Once both vehicles were removed from the roadway units cleared the scene. Units that responded were, Chief 49, Deputy 49, Engine 49-1, Rescue 49, Engine 49, Station 66 PPPL with an engine and ambulance, Princeton Junction Rescue 44, East Windsor Rescue 42, Plainsboro Police, and Plainsboro EMS.

DATE: Friday, 11 April 2008 (Weather permitting)

TIMES: Between the hours of 7:00 am and 4:30 pm.

RESTRICTIONS: PLAINSBORO TWP MUNICIPAL CENTER ACCESS ROAD VIA DEY ROAD WILL BE
CLOSED TO TRAFFIC.

TO ENTER/EXIT THE PLAINSBORO TWP MUNICIPAL CENTER USE THE
PLAINSBORO ROAD ACCESS ROADS.

PURPOSE: Re-surface roadway.

This is to inform the public of an update concerning a previous traffic advisory. This updated traffic advisory on the road construction/improvement project will affect travel within the Township of Plainsboro.

LOCATION: SCUDDERS MILL & DEY ROAD INTERSECTION
Middlesex County routes 614-II and 614-III

DATES: Effective immediately & thru completion of project.

TIMES: Between the hours of 7:00 am and 4:30 pm.

RESTRICTIONS: There will be lane closures, shifts and /or alternating lane
flow within the construction zone.

EXPECT DELAYS.

PLAN ALTERNATE ROUTES.

POLICE WILL BE IN THE WORK ZONE.

SPEED LIMIT IN THE WORK ZONE IS 25 MPH

PLEASE SLOW DOWN & DRIVE CAREFULLY

PURPOSE: Improvements to intersection.

This is to inform the public of a road construction project that will affect travel within the Township of Plainsboro.

Location: VILLAGE BLVD @ COLLEGE ROAD WEST--MAIN ENTRANCE TO PRINCETON
FORRESTAL VILLAGE

TIMES: Between the hours of 7:00 am and 4:30 pm. WEEKDAYS ONLY.

RESTRICTIONS: VILLAGE BLVD will be closed to thru travel between College Road
West and Stanhope Street (PRINCETON FORRESTAL VILLAGE)

DETOUR: For travel south (into Princeton Forrestal Village) - follow College
Road West to Village Blvd south (past Seminary Drive & Windrows).
Right onto Village Blvd south & follow Village Blvd south to Main
Street-Stanhope Street.

For travel north (out of Princeton Forrestal Village)- follow Village
Blvd south past Stanhope Street/Main Street to College Road West.
Right onto College Road West and follow.

ALL DETOUR ROUTES WILL BE SIGNED.
POLICE WILL BE IN WORK ZONE.

PURPOSE: Tie into water main.

On a quiet Sunday evening, January 13th at approximately 1628hrs the fire company was dispatched for a single car MVA overturned with entrapment. The accident occured on Rt. 1 South in front of the Courtyard By Marriott. The Plainsboro Police were first on scene and confirmed an overturned vehicle with entrapment. Engine 49-1 arrived and crews quickly went to work securing the vehicle from sliding down the embankment and to prepare for extrication. Crews from Engine 49-1 and Engine 49 worked to remove the drivers side front and rear doors. This was done to remove the B post so that EMS could get in and package the patient. The patient was removed within minutes after the B post was removed. Engine 49-1 remained on scene to assist with lighting for the police to conduct their accident investigation, all other units cleared. Units that responded were, Chief 49, Deputy 49, Engine 49-1, Engine 49, Rescue 49, Plainsboro Police and Plainsboro Rescue Squad.

Only 10 1/2 hours into the New Year on January 1st 2008 at approximately 1030hrs, the tones went off for a reported stove fire at 12 Gulick Lane. Plainsboro central advised responding units it was a fire on the stove, and all occupants were out of the house. Ladder 49 was the first to arrive on scene and reported a 2 1/2 story wood frame with nothing showing. Crews from Ladder 49 made their way in to investigate and reported to command they had a fire on the stove. The first in crew made a quick knock down and checked for extension. No extension was found, and the assignment was recalled. Units that responded, Deputy 49, Ladder 49, Engine 49, Engine 49-1, Plainsboro Police and Plainsboro EMS.

The Plainsboro Fire Company closed out 2007 by answering 530 calls for help. Some of these calls were car accidents, water incidents, structure fires, confined space rescues, etc. All of the members worked extremely hard to keep our residents and businesses protected, missing many meals, hours of sleep etc. A big thanks to all of the members who keep Plainsboro safe throughout the year!

Santa made his annual visit to the residents of Plainsboro on Friday December 14th and Saturday December 15th. He brought joy and smiles to all the children that eagerly awaited his arrival.

During the evening rush hour on Tuesday November 6, 2007 the fire company was dispatched to a structure fire at 117 Tennyson Drive. Police arrived on location and confirmed a working structure fire. Deputy 49 arrived on location and reported heavy smoke showing. The first alarm was struck bringing in additional units. The police knocked down a bulk of the fire prior to the arrival of incoming units. Crews from Ladder 49 made quick work of the dryer fire. The house was checked for extension and none was found. The construction official along with PSE&G were called to the scene. PSE&G secured power and gas to the house, and the construction official completed his investigation. Units cleared a short while later. Units that responded, Deputy 49, Ladder 49, Tower 49, Rescue 49, PPPL Station 66, Cranbury Engine 48-3, Applegarth Station 57, East Windsor Station 42, Station 44 covered the 49 house, Plainsboro Police, Plainsboro Rescue Squad.

In the early morning hours of Saturday October 27, 2007 at approximately 0214hrs the Plainsboro Fire Company was dispatched for a reported tractor trailer into a house with entrapment. The accident occurred on Rt. 1 South at Mapleton Road. The police advised Chief 49 that it was a car carrier and additional assistance may be needed. Chief 49 requested Engine 66 PPPL and Rescue 24 from Kingston to respond. Upon arrival Chief 49 advised dispatch and incoming units it was a tractor trailer into a house. When crews from Engine 49-1 arrived they went to work on securing the truck and freeing the driver and rear passenger. Crews from Engine 66 PPPL stretched a hand line from Engine 49-1 and were ready in case the truck caught fire. Crews from Rescue 49 worked on additional cribbing and stabilizing of the truck. After the rear passenger was removed from the truck, extrication was halted due to patient determination of the driver. Chief 49 updated dispatch that it was not a tractor trailer, but a F-350 with a car carrier on the back and it didn’t appear there was any structural damage to the house. The construction official was on scene to check for any structural damage. Units remained on scene for an extended period of time providing lighting for the police to complete their accident investigation. After the police completed their investigation, and the pickup truck was removed, the house was checked for structural damage. It was determined that the structure was safe and damage was confined to the exterior porch. Units that responded, Chief 49, Deputy 49, Engine 49-1, Rescue 49, Engine 66 PPPL, Rescue 24 Kingston, Ladder 49, Engine 49, Plainsboro Rescue Squad, Plainsboro Police, Robert Wood Johnson Medics, Middlesex County Medical Examiner and the Middlesex County Prosecutors Office.

On the evening of Wednesday October 24th 2007 at approximately 1857hrs the fire company was dispatched for a head on collision with entrapment on Cranbury Neck Road. It was determined that the driver of one vehicle was deceased. The patients from the other vehicle were treated by Princeton Plasma Physics Lab, and the Plainsboro Rescue Squad, and transported to the hospital. Extrication was not necessary, and units were on scene for an extended period of time to assist the police with lighting for their accident investigation. Units that responded, Engine 49-1, Rescue 49, PPPL Station 66, Robert Wood Johnson Medics, Plainsboro Police, Plainsboro Rescue Squad, and the Middlesex County Prosecutors Office
