Sunday, March 21, 2010 In the early morning hours of March 21st at 0521hrs the fire department responded as R.I.T. to 25 Brians Circle in West Windsor on a structure fire. The Rescue company stood fast until, released from RIT operations. The crew assisted with salvage and overhaul, and was on location for about an hour and a half. Thursday, February 4, 2010 The fire company responded to 2207 Aspen Drive on February 4th for a vehicle into the building. The vehicle was removed from the building and the construction official was notified. Once the wall was stabilized, the construction official deemed the house inhabitable. Units were on scene for approximately an hour.
Sunday, January 24, 2010 In the early evening hours of January 24th the fire company was dispatched to Sayerville on a working structure fire. It went to 5 alarms in all, the crew from Engine 49 stood by on location for additonal man power and additonal water if necessary.
Thursday, January 14, 2010 On January 14th at 1047hrs the fire company was dispatched as R.I.T for a working fire at the West Windsor Township garage. Director 45 was on scene and reported a trash truck well involved with fire in the building. R.I.T. stood by while fire companies from West Windsor, East Windsor, Robbinsville, and Hightstown put the fire out and checked for extension.
Friday, January 1, 2010 The first day of the New Year wasn't so happy for the residents of 229 Hickory Corner Road in East Windsor. The tones went off for a reported structure fire at that residence. The first arriving unit reported there to be heavy fire showing from the second floor. A first alarm was detailed bringing in Rescue 49 as the RIT team. The first in crew made a quick knock down of the fire, but the house was left unihabitable. There were no injuries reported and once the fire was out, members of the RIT team assisted with overhaul.
Sunday, December 6, 2009 On Sunday afternoon December 6th the fire company responded to a report of a car into a building. The incident took place at building 17 Deer Creek. Chief 49 arrived on location and the vehicle was already removed from the building. Taskforce 801 was called in for a non emergency assignment to help shore up the building. PSE&G was also notified to secure power to the affected unit. The apartment was deemed uninhabitable by the building official. Units that responded were, Chief 49, Deputy 49, Engine 49-1, Rescue 49, Utility 49 w/ Trailer 49, Rescue 32 Ewing, Rescue 168 Princeton, Station 23 Lawrence, Plainsboro Building Official, Plainsboro Police, and Plainsboro EMS.
Thursday, December 3, 2009 On Thursday afternoon at around 1517 hrs the fire company was dispatched as part of Task Force 801 to respond into Hamilton for a building collapse. At the time of the dispatch it was unknown if the building was occupied or an abandoned building. Rescue 49 along with Utility 49/Trailer 49, Chief 49 and Deputy 49 responded to 22 Victor Ave. As Hamilton Chief 14-1 arrived on location he determined the building to be unoccupied and abandoned. The assignment was placed on non emergency. All units of the Task Force worked to shore up sections of the house. Units were on location for an extended period of time.
Thursday, December 3, 2009 In the early morning hours of Thursday December 3rd at approximately 6am the fire company was dispatched for a cover assignment to Station 51 Pennington. Station 51 had committed most of their resources to assist Hopewell with a fire and needed an engine to help cover the town. As Engine 49-1 arrived at Station 51 they were advised to setup on the hydrant just outside the fire house and prepare to fill tankers. This meant not only was the engine responsible as a secondary fill site for the tankers, but would be taking in any calls that came in for Pennington. Fortunately no additional calls came in for Pennington and the crew was able to focus on filling the incoming tankers. The engine was released by command at approximately 0930 hrs and was back in quarters by approximately 1000hrs.
Monday, September 21, 2009 BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS PLAINSBORO FIRE DISTRICT # 1 MEDIA BACKGROUNDER FIRE APPARATUS REPLACEMENT VOTE Note: The following information is provided as a briefing document to the media. Apparatus Replacement Vote On September 26, 2009, Plainsboro voters will have the opportunity to vote on a proposal by the Board of Fire Commissioners to replace two aging pieces of front-line fire apparatus. The election will take place at the firehouse, 407 Plainsboro Road, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Proposal The Board of Commissioners has voted to replace two pieces of fire apparatus – a 1977 pumper and a 1979 aerial tower ladder. The trucks were refurbished in the 1990s, but are more than five years beyond their maximum service life. Tax Impact The Board of Commissioners anticipates no tax impact on Plainsboro taxpayers as a result of this replacement project. The Plainsboro Fire District has incorporated anticipated capital reserve into the budget process to offset the anticipated apparatus replacement schedule costs. At this time, the District has $300,000 remaining on capital reserve after paying recently purchased equipment and expects to provide a $750,000 down payment on these two units. Monday, August 31, 2009 The fire company was dispatched for a vehicle on its side in the Plainsboro Library parking lot. The Chief arrived and reported a single vehicle on its side with one occupant still inside. Engine 49-1 was the first apparatus on scene and began to stabilize the vehicle. Once the vehicle was stabilized the patient was removed and transported to the hospital. Units cleared the scene a short time later. Responding units were, Chief 49, Engine 49-1, Rescue 49, Plainsboro EMS and Plainsboro Police
